Alexis Guzman

Alexis Guzman is an in-house substitute teacher at a Sports Management and Leadership school in Las Vegas and a first-semester graduate student at Emerson College, pursuing a master’s degree in Journalism and Media. A first-generation college student from Henderson, Nevada, Alexis earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical and Mental Health, along with minors in Counseling and Social Justice, from Nevada State University.

With a multidisciplinary background that spans education, psychology, and media, Alexis brings a thoughtful, human-centered approach to storytelling. Her academic and professional experiences have shaped a strong interest in reporting on social issues, cultural narratives, and community-driven stories, particularly those that explore identity, trauma, and resilience. Through teaching, she has developed strong communication and leadership skills, as well as a deep appreciation for mentorship and youth advocacy.

Alexis’s work is grounded in empathy, critical thinking, and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices. As she continues her graduate studies, she aims to create impactful journalism that informs, connects, and fosters meaningful dialogue within diverse communities.
